This haunted isle: The ghosts and legends of Britain's historic buildings
Peter Underwood

Wake - Anna Hope "Wake" details three lives affected by the November 11th 1920 anniversary of Armistice Day, and the official ceremony of the burial of the Unknown Warrior. Three women (a young girl, a woman, and a mother) grieve the loss and hold a Wake for something, or someone, lost because of the Great War. Throughout the novel, in slow, dark movements, the women in turn slowly wake from their grief and painfully learn to let their old selves go, and embrace their lives and the survivors around them.
A sweet, touching memorial which makes 100 years ago feel like yesterday.
